Electronic Parts Catalogs (EPC) have been in use for the past ten years. They put parts images at your fingertips – right on your computer screen at the parts and service counters. This EPC technology has taken the industry a long way since paper catalogs were used. Even the more recent film-type microfiche cards and viewers went obsolete when EPC’s came into wider use. Companies like ARI and ProQuest and many OEM’s have computerized images for most major lines to provide easy viewing.
Commander Software interfaces to Electronic Microfiche and various suppliers’ on-line ordering. That means you can tag part numbers in your OEM microfiche images and drop the part numbers down to your Parts invoice or Service RO.
Here’s how it works: Suppose you have a customer at your parts counter. Once you choose the parts you need on the microfiche images — one mouse click transfers all the parts to a Parts Invoice or Repair Order in the Commander System! There’s no re-typing of ANY part numbers whatsoever! Click here to see a short video of how Commander Software works with Electronic Microfiche programs.
This increases both efficiency and accuracy, because now you can locate the part number on the electronic microfiche and then invoice the part without ever typing or writing down a part number!
We have this type of interface for ARI PartSmart, MercNet, KIC and Cat Tracker, just to name a few. If you are a non-franchised dealer we even have an interface to HLSM’s Electronic Parts Finder (www.hlsm.com) for their library of electronic images.
Instead of having to locate the exact film or page in a paper catalog for the year, make and model you need, computer access is quick and easy. This is major. It’s the same as the difference between looking for something on a VHS tape vs. finding it on a DVD. No more lost film or misplaced models in the file.
Aside from how quick and easy it is to find the correct year, make and model, you can create a shopping list of required parts and save it electronically. All you do is click on the part/reference number, then download the list to our software where it goes directly to an invoice or repair order. No re-typing of the parts numbers improves accuracy and speeds up waiting on customers. Another major improvement!
This is possible because it’s computer based. Sending a list or illustration out to your laser printer is a convenient way for you to get a hard copy of important information contained in the catalog.
Manufacturer notes and bulletins referring to models, components and part numbers gives you immediate access both now and in the future, to these documents that previously were available only in paper form.
