Purchasing Special Order Parts
Special
ordering is typically a big portion of every business that
sells parts and performs repairs. It's no secret that the
whole process of special ordering - from placing the order
all the way to delivering the parts - can be mined with
problems without adequate controls. Special ordering
doesn't have to be confusing! Commander follows the parts
for you through their entire cycle - locate, invoice, order,
receive, barcode and stock/distribute.
Here's How
it Works:
When you
place parts on an invoice, the computer automatically knows
which of the parts are IN stock and which ones will have to
be special ordered. These non-stocking part numbers are
automatically moved to a "PO Pad" as you create the invoice
(or repair order). When reviewing your PO Pad list, simply
sort and highlight the parts you wish to order and drop them
onto your vendor's purchase order. The new Purchase Order
can then be emailed, faxed or imported to your vendors.
It's that easy!
When the truck backs up to your store and the parts have
arrived, just call up the Purchase Order. One click on the
list of received parts automatically increases on hand
quantities receiving the parts into inventory. Another
click prints a barcode label for each new part that was just
received. This is an easy way to move parts into inventory
and keep barcodes on everything you stock.
Example: Importing a Parts Unlimited Purchase Order to
PARTSNETWEB, Parts Unlimited's Motorcycle / ATV / Snowmobile
Parts Ordering Website
Many vendors now allow their dealers to import a list of
motorcycle, ATV or snowmobile parts to their parts ordering
websites for convenience. And, as we've just mentioned, the
Commander software monitors your stocking levels for you and
allows you to easily create purchase orders. So, we've
teamed up with popular vendors to further streamline the
parts ordering process.
For example, any purchase order generated in Commander can
be imported to Parts Unlimited's PARTSNETWEB ordering
website. Once the Parts Unlimited purchase order is created
in Commander
inventory management software, all you have to do is
click an export button and it is automatically saved in the
Parts Unlimited file format. This eliminates the need to
re-key the list of Parts Unlimited motorcycle parts that
need to be ordered. A 15 minute online Parts Unlimited /
PARTSNETWEB order now takes less than a minute. Ask a sales
representative for a list of vendors that support this type
of purchase order import.
